OMB Issues A-133 Compliance Supplement Addendum
Washington, Aug. 12 – The Office of Management and Budget added numerous requirements for auditing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act programs in a recent addendum to the 2009 Circular A-133 Compliance Supplement. The addendum includes special tests and provisions for Recovery Act awards, along with guidance stressing the importance of internal controls over Recovery Act funds.

IG Audit Takes ED to Task on MOE Verification
WASHINGTON, Oct. 4 — A final audit of nearly $50 billion in State Fiscal Stabilization Fund (SFSF) formula grants found that the U.S. Department of Education (ED) did not do enough to ensure that states complied with maintenance-of-effort (MOE) requirements, which aimed to keep state education funding from dropping below minimum levels in the wake of the huge influx of federal dollars.
Grantees Advised To Correct Recovery Act Findings Now
WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 Grantees who are having an Office of Management and Budget Circular A-133 single audit performed on programs funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act should not be defensive about audit findings and should make every effort to correct them now instead of facing even bigger problems later, a federal inspector general official said.
