ED Releases Proposed Instructions for School-by-School Salary Data Collection
Washington, Sept. 3 — The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has released proposed instructions for states and districts to follow as they collect data on the aggregate salaries of staff at each of their schools under a push to beef up the Title I comparability provision.
ED wants districts to provide three interwoven sets of data on staffing costs. Specifically, districts will need to report salaries, including bonus pay, incentive pay and stipends, for (1) all instructional and support staff, which includes, among other employees, principals and other administrators, nurses, library staff and those involved in curriculum development and staff training; (2) all instructional staff; and finally — the smallest subset — (3) all teachers.
