Fate of Education Jobs Bill in Question


WASHINGTON, June 1 — Prospects are dimming for schools to avoid job cuts in the upcoming school year as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) winds down. Nonetheless, many are hoping that Congress will provide an infusion of $23 billion to essentially extend by one year the 2009 ARRA State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, which has been mostly drained by economically struggling states and localities.
